| I wrote yesterday in anger about Mr. Wright because it was apparent he was deliberately and maliciously out to destroy the candidacy of Barack Obama.His glib, pretentious, sarcastic, self adulation performance before the National Press Club was certaintly not designed to assist the candidacy of one of his parishoners, but to wreck his career.I was raised in the south Bronx and the concept of loyalty to friends was instilled in me and I retain that sense in my 77th year.Senator Obama is now in a critical period of his candidacy and any "friend" would recognize the need to be careful in behavior and words.Mr. Wright performed a Judas act of stabbing Obama in the back and twisting the sword of anger.How could a "man of the cloth" betray one who was like a son?How could a pastor who shared times of torment with Barack Obama so deliberately seek to destroy his parishoner's political life?Does anyone believe the timing of the Wright performance was not planned?I find hypocrtical comments I have received in which I am berated for insulting a "man of the cloth" who has done good deeds in life.The Reverend Jerry Falwell and the Reverend Pat Robertson and a dozen other such "reverends" have done good deeds.They have fed the poor, they have built homes, they have built colleges, so what!!Am I to keep my mouth shut when Falwell and Robertson insult gays and lesbians because they fed the poor?Am I to remain silent when they insult Muslims and degrade their religion because they are "men of the cloth?"Robertson and Falwell make statements to gain noteriety and to bask in the limelight of power.They are street corner hustlers just like Wright.Perhaps, a defender of Wright can explain how he transformed Jesus Christ into an apostle of violence and vengeance!!I did not always agree with Malcolm X but I never lost my respect for his integrity of purpose.Yes, he had an eloquent way of speaking, and he could be sarcastic, but his eye was always on the goal of creating a just and humane society for all people.I went to hear him speak in person twice because I admired him for his ideas and his passion.Read his comments after visiting Mecca.Please read his Autobiography.Please compare the words of Martin Luther King with the Press Club performance of Wright.Barack Obama challenged America to confront issues of racism and, as he pointed out, racism was not restricted to black/white issues but pertained at all levels of society and to diverse groups.So, what was the Wright response to the challenge-- the ridiculous performance of self glorification at the Press Club.I did not insult Jerimiah Wright, he insulted himself.There are no words of insult on my part that could match his own words of ridiculous comments about AIDs and his nutty comment that Farrakhan was an important intellectual voice of the 20th century!!I have no problem with him agreeing with the "man of the cloth" but, to claim he is an intellectual leader!How about Malcolm X, King, Walter White, A. Philip Randolph, Thurgood Marshall, John Hope Frankln, Ralph Ellison, James Baldwin, Claude Brown, Walter White, etc...I am proud today that Barack Obama has come out swinging against this man who betrayed him.I admire that Barack Obama was gracious, but spoke clearly that he rejected the inane ideas of a man he once admired.P.S. I was accused of insulting a man who had a Ph.D. Wow!I have a Ph.D. I challenge any reader to give me the name of any Ph.D. dissertation in the liberal arts that led to a change in American society in the 20th century and was read by more than 5,000 people.If you wish an afternoon of fun, go to a university library, go down to the stacks containing their dissertations in education, and read the titles.I will leave you with one I found in the NYU library stacks: "A Study of the Impact of Flouridation of the Water Upon Learning in the Los Angeles Public School System."Let me make clear, the only one who should apologize is Jeremiah Wright for what he did to Barack Obama and his family, and, more importantly, to the future of the United States of America, and that includes its African American population that he claims to care about.Who will suffer most with a McCain presidency?Wall Street Stockbrokers?The world is experiencing a crisis in food for the poor and rising oil prices but to the people of Denmark the most important issue appears to be that a Muslim female judge might wear her headscarf in court. |

Bill for WW II veterans.The Webb bill provides for all tuition being paid and a monthly stipend for veterans attending college.Secretary of Defense Gates is opposing the bill.As his aide comented: "Congress must understand that the volunteer force relies for its very life on retention-- not departure incentives."In simple English, don't make it attractive to leave the armed forces, stay with us.April was the cruelist month since September in Iraq.46 American soldiers died, the highest total since September, 2007's 65.In theory, the "surge" should result in a steady decline in casualties, at least I thought that was the goal.Kudos to the people of the Czech Republic for publicly opposing construction of a US missile base on their territory.Most polls indicate a large majority opposes the base but the Czech Republic government is backing it.I suspect they will receive weapons and money in exchange for supporting it.The longest running story of the 21st century is the vote tally in Zimbabwe.Fiive weeks have passed without results of the presidential race.A Reuters report indicates opposition leader Morgan Tasvangirai got 47% of the vote to 43% for the dictator, President Mugabe.But, the law says the winner must have a 50% margin so Mugabe is set for another run.I did some research and found the law also says, results in a presidential election must be reported withing 48 hours and after that time period there can not be a recount or a run off.Oh well, there never was a law that ever got in the way of Robert Mugabe.If you are a male reader of this blog and happen to go to Saudi Arabia, please stay away from female high schools.Prince Fahd bin Badr has told the religious police to seize any young boy who flirts with girls and cut off his long hair.The theory is that since girls wear long hair, a boy who wears long hair, is emulating female attire and that violates Muslim law-- at least in Saudi Arabia.If you have to understand when our Saudi allies behead someone they are merely striking a blow for democracy in Bushland.A new report by the World Bank blasts Israel for its checkpoints and harassment of economic activity by constantly impeding the flow of goods.The result according to the report is a near collapse of the West Bank Arab economy.There was zero growth in the economy in 2007.At some point if Israel wants to get serious about peace in the West Bank it must allow the Arab economy to prosper and create work for its young population.The Islamic Jihad offered a cease fire to Israel in Gaza.Here is the sequence of thinking.A. Islamic J Hihad offers cease fire.B. If Israel accepts the cease fire, is there an ulterior purpose in mind by the Islamic Jihad?C. Yes, there is since by definition the Islamic Jihad is the enemy anytime they make a proposal for peace it contains a hidden agenda.D.
